The Magic of TCM – A Connection Beyond Words

Every time I take a patient’s pulse, I remember what my master once told me:
(“Taking the pulse is not just for diagnosis — it’s the moment when you and your client’s energy connect.”)
Traditional Chinese Medicine has fascinated me since I was a student — and now, I can truly feel its depth in my daily practice.
Acupuncture focuses deeply on the flow of energy (Qi). Many of my clients tell me they can feel this movement — sometimes as a warm sensation, sometimes a strange or rushing feeling through their body. It may feel unusual, but it’s all part of the body’s energetic response when the needles guide the Qi. This energy movement is often the spark that triggers the body’s own healing and rebalancing, in a way that’s hard to explain with words.
Some ancient scholars even believed that during acupuncture or other TCM treatments, the practitioner helps channel natural energy from the universe into the patient. It sounds abstract — even mystical — but I believe it can truly happen.
One experience has left a deep impression on me. I’ve treated the same client’s knee multiple times, and each time I insert the needles, I notice nasal discharge coming from my own nose. It’s not a cold day. I don’t feel ill. But it happens — consistently.
Then it clicked: the Stomach meridian flows from the face, down to the knees and into the toes. When I needle the knee to release cold and dampness, those same pathogenic factors seem to travel through the meridian and briefly express through my own body, as nasal symptoms. This connection — subtle yet powerful — is amazing.
Moments like these happen often in clinic, and they remind me how profound and mysterious TCM truly is. It’s this deep connection between practitioner, patient, and nature that makes every treatment unique and full of meaning.
This is TCM. This is what makes every encounter a healing experience — for both patient and practitioner.
